About

WATERSEDGE FORM & STEEL LLC is a fabrication shop on Cuyahoga Road in Lake Worth, Florida. We build furniture out of steel and hardwood, and we build it ourselves.

Dressing a weld on the fabrication bench. The shear, press brake, plasma table and timber bench are all in the same building.

Watersedge started the way most shops do: a welder, a bench, and a list of things that were not being made properly. Steel furniture in Florida was either imported and hollow, or fabricated for a commercial job and never intended for a house. So we started making pieces the way we would want them made for ourselves — heavier section steel, timber that had been dried properly, and finishes that could be repaired years later instead of thrown away.

Today the shop runs a shear, a press brake, a plasma table and a welding bay on one side, and a full timber bench on the other. Everything we sell is made in that one building by the people you speak to on the phone. We do not import, we do not assemble flat packs, and we do not put our name on anything we did not weld.

Most of our work is residential: dining tables, desks, shelving, sideboards and outdoor pieces for houses in Palm Beach County and along the coast. We also take on restaurant, office and trade work where a space needs furniture that will survive a decade of daily use. If that is what you need, say so and we will quote it properly.

Nothing is bought until you approve a drawing.

Machines do not make furniture. People do.

There is a plasma table here that cuts plate to within a millimetre, and it is useful. But it cannot look at a weld and decide it is not good enough, and it cannot tell you that the oak you chose will move too much for a table that length.

So the machines cut and bend. Everything that decides whether a piece is worth owning — the layout, the fit-up, the weld, the sanding, the oil — is done by a person with their name on the job sheet.

What we are strict about

Six things that decide how a Watersedge piece ages. They are not upsells; they are how the work is done or the work is not done.

Steel with thickness in it

Table frames are 11 and 12 gauge, not 16 gauge tube dressed up to look heavy. You can feel the difference the first time you move one.

Welds that are finished, not hidden

Every joint is ground and blended, then the whole frame is treated as one surface. No filler, no plastic caps over the ends of tube.

Timber that is dry before it is cut

Stock is acclimatised in the shop and checked with a meter. A table top that was wet when it was made will cup in a Florida summer.

Finishes we can repair

Hand-rubbed hardwax oil on timber and a waxed or blackened finish on steel. Both can be refreshed in a living room in an afternoon.

Level, square, stable

Bases are jigged and checked on a granite-flat bench, then levelling feet are fitted as standard. A table that rocks is a table that was rushed.

One person accountable

The fabricator who builds your piece signs the job sheet. If something is wrong, you are not passed between departments.

Black walnut, milled and joined in the shop. We buy in board form and dimension it ourselves so the grain runs where we want it.
